Applications

Heat Treated Glass is used across multiple markets where higher strength or safety properties are required:

  • Commercial & Office Buildings – Glazing in interior and exterior walls, vision lites, and larger glass spans
  • Retail & Storefronts – Glass panels in storefronts and façades where wind loads or thermal stress require stronger glass
  • Hospitality & Hotels – Transparent partitions, exterior glass walls, pool enclosures, and high-clear vision walls
  • Healthcare & Institutional – Waiting areas, corridor glazing, and transparent barriers where safety is needed
  • Education & Institutional – Atriums, libraries, lobbies, and glass walls subject to high foot traffic or thermal gradients
  • Residential & Multi-Family – Glass balcony walls, glass walls, and areas requiring safety glazing properties

Features

  • Heat Strengthened Option – Approximately twice the strength of annealed glass, useful for thermal stress resistance and moderate loads
  • Fully Tempered Option – Approximately four times the strength of annealed glass and qualifies as safety glazing
  • Permanent Identification Marking – Every safety glass unit is permanently marked to certify compliance with glazing standards
  • Same Rigidity & Deflection as Annealed Glass – Glass stiffness is unchanged; design deflection behavior remains consistent
  • Compatibility with Laminated Safety Systems – For zones requiring containment after breakage, heat treated glass may be laminated
  • Fabrication Friendly – Glass can be cut or processed before heat treatment to suit architectural systems

Performance

  • Strength Increase – Heat Strengthened glass is about twice as strong as annealed; Fully Tempered glass is about four times stronger
  • Safety Fragmentation – Fully Tempered glass breaks into small, less dangerous fragments, meeting safety glazing criteria
  • Thermal Stress Resistance – Heat treated glass tolerates higher temperature gradients and resists spontaneous breakage under thermal load
  • Structural Compatibility – Enhanced strength allows for larger spans or reduced thickness in some designs
  • System Integration – Works with storefront, curtain wall, railing, and entrance systems while maintaining required performance
  • Code Compliance Markings – Permanently marked for traceability and compliance with ANSI and CPSC safety glazing standards
